　　由于泵内流体和泵外大气间存在着压差，为了防止浆体外泄，因此泵在运行时需设密封装置，称其为轴封。常用的轴封种类有：填料密封、机械密封、动力密封以及浮动密封等形式。从目前各行业用泵情况看，机械密封已经成为各行业通用的密封形式，并且该密封形式运行平稳，可靠，给各行业带来很大的经济效益。

机械密封的基本原理

　　机械密封是由两块密封元件(静环和动环)垂直于轴的光滑而平直的表面相互贴合，并做相对转动而构成的密封装置，如图1所示。它是靠弹性构件(如弹簧6)和密封介质的压力在旋转的动环和静环的接触面(端面)上产生适当的压紧力，使这两个端面紧密贴合。

　　端面间维持一层极薄的液体膜而达到密封的目的，这层液体膜具有流体动压力与静压力。起着润滑与密封的作用。渣浆泵、脱硫泵等产品在不同工况均可采用机械密封。
